PTMSC 002: A Spell for Prosperity: Opening the Door to New Opportunities

Have you ever noticed how much time we spend thinking about money?

Whether it's worrying about bills, wishing we had a little more breathing space or dreaming about something we'd love to do, money has a way of creeping into our thoughts.

And when things feel tight, it can be difficult to see beyond what we haven't got.

So what if, instead of focusing entirely on what we're lacking, we took a little time to think about what we'd actually like to welcome into our lives?

That's what we're going to explore with this prosperity spell.

And no, we're not expecting a bag of money to suddenly appear on the doorstep!

What Is Prosperity Magic?

Prosperity magic is a broad term used in modern spellcraft for rituals intended to attract wealth, good fortune, success or opportunities.

Money spells are probably among the most familiar examples, but prosperity doesn't have to mean becoming enormously wealthy.

For one person, it might mean having enough money to stop worrying about the next bill. For another, it could be finding a new job, attracting more customers or finally having the confidence to pursue an opportunity.

Throughout history, people have used charms, offerings and rituals in hopes of encouraging good fortune.

In the ancient Roman world, Fortuna was associated with fortune and the changing circumstances of life. In European folk traditions, certain plants, coins and household objects have also been associated with luck and prosperity.

The practices and meanings differ considerably between traditions, and modern prosperity spells often combine older symbolism with newer interpretations.

What interests me is how ordinary objects can take on meaning when we use them with a particular intention.

The Magic Behind Our Ingredients

For this spell, we're going to use a few simple objects.

A coin

Coins have appeared in customs and rituals associated with luck, offerings and prosperity in different cultures.

For our spell, the coin represents the financial opportunity we'd like to

welcome, but also reminds us that money needs to be handled with care and intention.

Bay leaf

Bay laurel has a long history of association with honour, victory and achievement, particularly in ancient Greek and Roman cultures.

Modern spellcraft also uses bay leaves in rituals associated with wishes, success and prosperity.

We're choosing a bay leaf to represent the goal we're working towards.

A green candle

In many modern magical traditions, green is associated with growth, prosperity and abundance.

For this ritual, the candle represents the possibilities we want to bring into focus.

A small key

This is my favourite ingredient.

Keys are wonderfully symbolic. They open doors, give us access to places and represent possibilities that might otherwise remain closed.

In our spell, the key represents opportunities.

It doesn't need to be an antique or magical key. An ordinary spare key that isn't needed for anything important will do.

A Spell for Prosperity and New Opportunities

A ritual for welcoming financial growth, recognising opportunities and taking positive action.

What You'll Need

• One green candle and a suitable holder

• One coin

• One dried bay leaf

• A small key

• A piece of paper and a pen

• A small dish or bowl

Choose somewhere quiet where you can sit comfortably without being disturbed.

Before We Begin: Setting Our Intention

At The Pathway to Magic, we approach our spells with the intention of working with positive energy, for our highest good and the highest good of all concerned.

We're not trying to take anything away from another person or influence someone against their will.

This spell is about welcoming opportunities, recognising our own abilities and creating space for positive financial change.

Take a moment to set your intention:

May the energy I work with serve my highest good and the highest good of all concerned. May prosperity come through positive opportunities, honest actions and with harm to none.

Step 1: Decide What Prosperity Means to You

Before lighting your candle, think about what you'd actually like to change.

Perhaps you'd like to increase your income, find a new opportunity or feel more confident managing your finances.

Try to be specific.

Rather than writing I want lots of money, you might write:

I welcome opportunities to increase my income through work that I enjoy.

Or:

I am creating greater financial stability and making choices that support my future.

Write your intention on your piece of paper.

Step 2: Prepare Your Prosperity Spell

Place your candle in front of you.

Put the coin, bay leaf and key into your small dish.

Fold your written intention towards you and place it underneath the dish.

In this ritual, folding the paper towards yourself symbolises welcoming something into your life.

Light your candle safely and take a moment to look at the objects you've chosen.

The coin represents prosperity.

The bay leaf represents achievement.

And the key represents the opportunities that may help you reach your goal.

Step 3: Open the Door to Opportunity

Take the key from the dish and hold it in your hand.

Think about the opportunities you'd like to recognise or create.

Perhaps there's something you've been meaning to apply for, someone you could contact or an idea you've been putting off.

Hold the key and say:

Doors of opportunity, open wide,
Let wisdom and courage be my guide.
With honest work and purpose clear,
I welcome growth and opportunity here.

May I recognise the chances I see,
And build the life that's right for me.
Through choices made and actions true,
I welcome possibilities new.

Now place the key back into the dish.

Step 4: Give Your Intention Direction

Take the coin and hold it between your hands.

Think about what financial security or prosperity would actually allow you to do.

Would it give you more freedom? Help you feel less worried? Allow you to support someone you love?

Place the coin on top of the folded intention paper, beside the dish.

Say:

I value what I have, and welcome what I can create.

Take a moment to consider one practical step you could take towards your goal.

Step 5: Close Your Spell

Place the coin back into the dish with the key and bay leaf.

Sit quietly for a moment and think about the intention you've set.

When you're ready, extinguish the candle safely.

Keep your coin and key together somewhere you'll see them, perhaps on your desk or in a small dish at home.

They'll serve as reminders to notice opportunities and act on them.

You can keep the bay leaf with them while it remains in good condition, then compost or dispose of it.

Bringing Prosperity Into Everyday Life

Here's something worth thinking about.

Sometimes an opportunity doesn't look particularly exciting when it first appears.

It might be a conversation, an unexpected suggestion or an idea that requires a little courage to pursue.

And sometimes improving our finances isn't about earning more. It might begin with looking at where our money goes, changing a habit or asking for help with something we've been avoiding.

So after completing your spell, write down one practical action you can take within the next 24 hours.

It could be sending an email, updating your CV, reviewing a bill or contacting a potential customer.

The ritual gives you a moment to focus on what you want. Your actions give that intention somewhere to go.

A Final Thought

I love the symbolism of the key in this spell.

Not because holding a key will magically unlock a fortune, but because it reminds us that opportunities aren't always obvious.

Sometimes we need to look for them. Sometimes we need to create them. And sometimes we need the confidence to try something we've never done before.

Prosperity can mean different things to different people.
